Oath Ceremony
Written on September 18, 2007
Oath ceremony was held at the same office where I took my citizenship interview. The appointment was 2PM but it started at about 2:15PM. Pop and I got there early (30 minutes) as usual but we didn’t go to Sun Spot Cafe, instead, we headed upstair to wait in the reception area.
There’re a few kids in the ceremony but no baby, no crying…just a few little monkey boys running around — I think they’re silly and cute at the same time
No flag given, no national anthem sung. It’s quite informal…quick and I didn’t cry
I got out of the ceremony early because I was called up to take my citizenship certificate early (#11 our of 54) I didn’t stay until the end because I was trying to avoid traffic, and most importantly, I was trying to go eat the Reuben sandwich at Sun Spot cafe, muwahahaha!
New perks I’ve gained:
1. I can VOTE in the 2008 Presidential Election!
2. I can apply for government job.
3. I can travel to Japan without a Visa!
Pop is going to Calgary, Canada in a week. I wish I could come along but I won’t have my passport by then. I’m wondering if I have a receipt showing it’s pending processing, I could use that to come back to USA. (and to go out to Canada). I’m going to apply for a passport tomorrow with expedite service (so that they can pick it up in two days and process it in three weeks)
