I was playing with old food, trying to put them together and transform them into something. Surprisingly, the final product came out ... EDIBLE! ... and Pop loves it. Therefore, now I am trying to back track and write down what I did in the kitchen an hour ago.
I was trying to use old food in the fridge. I've got some months old frozen unbaked pie crust dough and tomorrow-will-be-expired whipping cream. I cut up the pastry dough and baked into small tartets. I was planning to use whipping cream and fruits as filling but found out that the cream has gone bad. (WTF!?) I also had some leftover coconut milk (about 3/4 of a can) so I decided to use it in place of whipping cream. I boiled it in microwave with palm sugar and some salt. I put together 2 egg yolk and some corn starch and slowly pour into the hot coconut milk. I microwaved the coconut custard mixture for 30 seconds, whisked well, and put back in the microwave for another 30 seconds. I repeated it...3 or 4 times until the mixture turned creamy but not harden like omelet or San Kha Ya.
I forgot to mix some shredded coconut in the custard mixture. However, topping it with toasted coconut is not too bad.
